John King Books

This time I visited the John King Books store in Ferndale. I got the complete poetry of Carl Sandburg, “The Summer Book” by Tove Jansson, “Howl” by Allen Ginsberg, and “Lunch Poems” by Frank O’Hara. If you’re in the market for writers’ letters, journals, diaries, and biographies, definitely visit the Ferndale location.

Howl

I watched the movie “Howl.” I’m glad that I read “Jack Kerouac: A Biography” by Michael J. Dittman, because it was interesting to see what Ginsberg thought of Kerouac. The music was done by Carter Burwell, one of my favorite movie composers, and the compilation of the poem with interviews and court transcripts was fascinating.

Poetry Project Update

My poetry project is doing quite well. I’ve written poems about motherhood using the following fruits and vegetables: pomegranate, broccoli, celery, carrot, banana, onion, plum, tomato, watermelon, cantaloupe, and potato. Eleven poems so far.
