We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
I finished reading “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson. I first encountered Jackson’s work when I read her short story “The Lottery” in high school. “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” is a great example of an unreliable narrator and the relationship between sisters.

A Guide to Being Born by Ramona Ausubel
This is an amazing collection of short stories by Ramona Ausubel. The stories have beautiful language and intriguing characters. Definitely a short story collection to read this year.
