Another Journal Finished
I finished my tenth journal. This marks the end of a period where I relied on lined notebooks. I’ve started using a Flexi-Sketch sketchbook for my next journal. Charlotte’s story was drafted in a Flexi-Sketch, as will my next novel.
Common Spelling and Grammar Mistakes
I’m glad that I’ve worked as a copyeditor. Since then I reread everything I write.
Moomin Book One: The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip
I finished reading “Moomin Book One: The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip” by Tove Jansson.
Mymble: “Lie on the bridge and watch the water flowing past. Or run, or wade through the swamp in your red boots. Or roll yourself up and listen to the rain falling on the roof. It’s very easy to enjoy yourself.”

Howl
I watched the movie “Howl.” I’m glad that I read “Jack Kerouac: A Biography” by Michael J. Dittman, because it was interesting to see what Ginsberg thought of Kerouac. The music was done by Carter Burwell, one of my favorite movie composers, and the compilation of the poem with interviews and court transcripts was fascinating.

Ideal Writing Day
It was fantastic to wake up at a normal hour, make myself breakfast, and go to Seed for a day of writing. I wrote in my journal and worked on short stories, editing one and starting drafts for two others. And for lunch? I had Tony Packo’s for the first time. And of course on my breaks I watched an episode of Community and an episode of South Park for research.
My ideal writing schedule is writing in the morning and reading in the afternoon with a relaxing evening activity. What is your ideal writing day?

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
I finished reading “Wintergirls” by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Anderson uses great structure and tackles complicated subjects. Of Anderson’s five YA novels, I’ve read four. “Prom” is on my bookshelf, waiting to be read.
Kalevala
I received my copy of “Kalevala” in the mail. Printed and bound in Finland in the 1980s, it is the fourth full translation from Finnish to English.
