Forming better habits
I’ve been writing every day since January 2011. It is one habit I’m glad I have.
On the other hand, I’m still working on forming the habit of reading at least one poem and short story a day. I’ve made progress where I will read at least one, maybe two, a week. So hopefully I will continue to make progress.
The short stories I’m focusing on are by Carson McCullers. And poetry I’m reading: Sharon Olds and Robert Frost.

Reading is a great source of inspiration for your writing and Carson McCullers is a particularly fine choice. This year I’m reading a book from every country in the world and I’ve foudn it’s doing great things for my writing. Good luck.
Thank you! I’m glad you’re reading books from every country. Have you read “Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi?
I hope your project continues to be successful, both in reading and writing. One piece of advice I’ve heard often (besides writing a lot) is to read. We can examine what we read and see what is working and what’s not, and I find it helps me remember one of many reasons why I write–because I love reading.
