NaNo–Day 1

The first day of NaNo went well! I wrote 1824 words, going above and beyond the goal of 1667 for the first day. I had my last lunch (it wasn’t Ramen) before NaNo started. I couldn’t recall the last time I ate soup that wasn’t Ramen or wasn’t made by myself.

NaNoWriMo 2012 Preparations

It’s almost November! This year will be my fourth NaNo. To prepare for the challenge, I bought a new journal from Under the Mango Tree while I was at the Ohio Renaissance Festival. And it will be my NaNo 2012 notebook. Already I’ve made lists of potential places to visit in my time-traveling novel, like Charlotte Corday’s death, …

50119–NaNo

So NaNo is over for this year. At least until I start editing in December after a long nap, deep-cleaning my living quarters, and receiving my treat for finishing a novel in a month with a sprained finger–dinner at Naslada, one of my favorite restaurants in town. I brainstormed on Monday and put those lines …

46408–NaNo

I typed last night after getting home from work, about 11:15 till midnight. After working on two of the five remaining scenes and brainstorming heavily throughout the day, the novel is 46,408 words long. Three more days! Yesterday I finished reading Jack Kerouac’s “Book of Haikus.” Lots of good ones. I’m going to invest in …

45038–NaNo

Yesterday I had a total of 42,314 words, and today after my writing session I have 45,038. So close to the legendary 50,000! I am pleased though that I was able to catch up. Spraining your finger during NaNo is not something I’d recommend, but at least NaNo 2011 will be a NaNo to remember. I have …

40140–NaNo

Last night after work I continued my NaNo novel. I reached 31,036 before I called it quits and went to bed. After sleeping, I got up and wrote for four and a half hours straight (with breaks of course) and I ate traditional Thanksgiving fare. I am very thrilled to be ahead of the projected 40,008 …

28903–NaNo

Well, I have made an improvement in my word count today. I wrote before class, at the write-in at the Union, and at the unofficial Prairie Margins write-in. And I used Dr. Wicked Write or Die (http://writeordie.com/) to write an additional 2,000 words. And I wrote two poems on top of that. Today was just …

22736–NaNo

I went to the Write-In in front of the Union theatre today. I wrote from 4-5:15 p.m., and didn’t quite meet the word count today–wrote by hand before typing it later. But I did write more than yesterday! So for a total of 22,736 words, I am getting there. Catching up is a priority after …

21450–NaNo

I’ve written very little since spraining my finger. I am sad to lose my head start in NaNo, but it is what it is. Luckily I only have to wear the splint for a week before going back to the doctor, so I will continue trudging.

20344–NaNo

Yesterday I reached 20344 words during the Prairie Margins write-in 6-7:15 p.m. And I discovered the original climax I thought of no longer applies. Oops! Good to know it isn’t going to work so I can work toward the proper one. Almost halfway there! Keep noveling.
